Privacy Policy

Beta draft — this document reflects how the app works today and will be finalized (and translated) before public launch.
QuestionSeed is a parent–child conversation app for families with children ages 5–10. We built it privacy-first: the app works without collecting a child’s real name, and your family’s conversation records stay on your own device. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what we do and do not collect.
The short version
- We never collect or store photos of your child’s face. The app has no such feature.
- Your child’s quotes, notes, and any voice recordings stay on your device. We can’t see them.
- Child names are optional — a nickname, initial, or emoji is encouraged instead.
- We collect anonymous usage counts (which lessons get finished) to decide what to write next. These are not linked to your account and are never sold.
- We never sell any data to anyone.
What we collect
Account: To create an account you provide an email address and password. These are handled by our authentication provider, Supabase, solely to sign you in. We use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell humans from bots at sign-up; it does not track you across sites.
Your family’s records: The children you add (an optional name, an age band, and your region), your lesson progress, the quotes and reflection notes you save, and any voice recordings you make are stored on your device (in your browser’s local storage). They are not uploaded to us. If you clear your browser data or lose the device, these records are lost — so we offer a way to export a copy for your own keeping.
Voice recordings: Optional. If you record your child saying their line of the day, that audio is stored only on your device. “Save a copy” exports it to your own phone so your own backup keeps it. We never receive it.
Anonymous usage analytics: To decide which lessons to write next, we collect counts of product events — for example, that a lesson was completed, or that the note field was used (never the text you wrote). Each install gets a random identifier that is not linked to your account, email, or any child identifier, and is used only in aggregate to improve the lessons. You can turn this off anytime in Account. We never sell it.
What we never collect
- Photos or video of your child.
- The text of your child’s quotes or your notes (only that a note was saved, and a rough length).
- Your child’s real name (unless you choose to type one).
- Precise location, contacts, or device advertising identifiers.
Children’s privacy (COPPA / PIPEDA)
QuestionSeed is designed to be used by a parent, with their child alongside. Accounts are created by adults. Because a child’s records stay on your device and we do not require a child’s real name or photo, we minimize children’s personal information by design. The anonymous usage analytics are scoped strictly to improving the product (an internal-operations purpose) and are not used to profile, advertise to, or contact anyone.
Sharing
We do not sell data. We use a small number of service providers strictly to run the app: Supabase (authentication) and Cloudflare (bot protection and the anonymous analytics endpoint). They process data only to provide those functions.
Your choices
- Turn off anonymous usage analytics anytime in Account.
- Delete a child’s records in Account — this also removes their voice recordings from the device.
- Export your own copy of a voice recording via “Save a copy.”
- Delete your account by contacting us (see Support).
Changes
This is a beta draft and will be finalized before public launch. If we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
